Las olas blvd. Fl for vacation?

I'm visiting fort lauderdale for vacation. I'm renting a car. I will be visiting las olas blvd. My question is, how is traffic in general in fl and near las olas blvd? I tend to get nervous when I drive outside of normal route. I'm from nj and I drive into NYC often. Should i be worried? Also, any recommended attractions in fll? Thanks!
