LG Chocolate vx8550 shut off problem?

I have a lg chocolate vx8550 that the screen cracked. I replaced the LCD screen with a new one. Now if you hit the front off the phone, not even that hard, it shuts off. Sometimes you even have to plug it in just to start it. What is the problem? Is it the new screen? thx
 
sounds to me like it might be the battery. Maybe that part took a hit the same time it was hit with whatever cracked the screen.
I'd go ahead and make an insurance claim ^^
