Lice -anyone who knows help ?

OK well I go to summer camp where there are girls and only girls that range from the ages of 5 to 15 and I'm 14. I think a little girl whipped her hair around and it had lice because she kept itching and I think it touched my hair. How long would it take for the nit to show ? and could it have been possible for me to catch like that ?
and would the nit show up THAT day .
