Lord of the flies book: Jack/roger fears?

hey, my final in english is to write about the book "Lord of the flies", and one of the topics is
"fear and violence seem to be closely related, jack and roger are the most violent, what do they fear? why do they decide to use violence to deal with fear?"
please answer it if u can, and please mention examples and quotes from the book that is related to this topic.

Jack Merridew, uses violence to keep his status as "leader", making the others fear him gives him more power over everyone. He does this simply because he is afraid of the others turning on him.
