Low cost ways to prepare for a new dog?

I am adopting a dog, he is a yorkie/poodle mix. I want to know what I need for the new dog that I could buy at a cheaper store. For example instead of getting a pricey food and water bowl I could go to a cheaper store and buy plastic bowls. He already comes with a leash, food, harness, collar, and crate. He is house trained.
