Hi guys, I'm feeling very scared and not sure if I should be? Basically, my mum developed a small lump on the left side of her neck. She spoke to GP who prescribed her antibiotics. These had no effect, in fact overnight she developed a further 2 or 3 small lumps around the same area of her neck.
She went back to the GP who sent her to ENT clinic where they put those camera tubes up her nose - they could see the lumps so then used a needle in one of her lumps to take some of the fluid out for examination. This was on the 11th Feb 2009.
This morning, and this is what has frightened me, she has received a letter dated the 11th Feb (the results surely could not have come back the same day?) asking her to attend a CT scan in 2 weeks. This has really panicked her out now. She says the lumps are slightly painful when she touches them, but then she is not so sure if the pain is from the needle. She says she feels tired, very lazy, has a headache, cannot sleep, and she also has a pain in her left arm over the last few weeks.
Could somebody please help me with this, particularly why they have requested a CT scan so soon? Anything will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
