I want to become a registered Dietician however I really want to minor in writing. English is my best subject, but I care more for writing good/fun things. Which one has more benefits? Are they both basically very good? What is it like to minor in english and writing? CAn you also tell me what it's like to have a minor? Is it more classes? Is it hard? I am a senior in high school right now. Just curious. Thanks!

As a retired nurse epidemiologist and counselor I'm excited that you are going for the science of diet. It is so interesting to learn what foods and drinks do to our bodies and how food come make us sick or better. I suggest you change your minor. I love writing too and I went back to get a degree in communications after the nursing epidemiology and counselor. I recommend your minor be in psychosocial.
The reason is so many people have mental issues with their looks or having a perfect body and even if they see a dietitian, they will fall back into old habits and then you see them and there has been no change. You enhance your power to change lives. Good luck.

Having a major and a minor is just being very focused. If you know what you want and you know what you love, you are way ahead of the game. Don't worry about whether it's difficult (it isn't). If you love it, it will be easy.

And what a GREAT combination! I mean, a registered dietician is a very cutting edge thing to be, as we now know that food, in addition to being fun and community building and of course good for you when you do it right, is medicine. If you can put the fun into the food that is medicine and write about it, you will have a VERY lucrative career, even one that you can pursue online and work from home if you should marry and have small children. It even dovetails with journalism.

So if you love English, minor in English. I don't even think you would have to worry at all about technical writing courses, though you might want to look into them. Just follow what you love. If you find joy in English, and you write well, and you want to write good/fun things, as your expertise in food/diet deepens, you will write well about diet-related subjects and you will find ways to inject fun into the subject -- which will make your writing fun and interesting to people and will make your writing marketable.

So go ahead and trust your spirit, follow what you love, and build your own beautiful house. A major and a minor are not a lot of work, especially if you love them. I mean, you will have moments where you will want to wring my neck for saying this (during exam time or when a paper is due in 12 hours), but your tastes are very focused and they make sense. Don't worry about what someone else tells you is hard. It may not be hard for you at all, not if it's fun.

It really sounds good to me. Go for it.
