So I'm writing a little something and I'm stuck on whether to make the protaginist male or female.
I want them to be female because I am, and I can write them. But in the story, it would be more believable for the character to be male. It's a war-type setting, but with a twist... so I was just wondering, what do you guys think?

If the female perspective is easier to write, go with female. Besides, women don't just disappear during wars. They're still around, and they can do everything a male protagonist can, just without anyone suspecting them.

Try to do some background finding on the males mind,or even ask someone. It would be better if it was male since you said war setting, thats when my father pops in my head because he loves anything that has to do with war.

write what you know. you know girls' emotions 100% better than a guys. and girls can do war stuff, just make her tough and not too girly! if you can relate to the character, the reader can too,

goodluck!

I know this is a challenge for you but I would suggest male. First of all, I get really impressed by authors who write as the opposite sex of them. It just shows that you're a good writer and that you can be versatile as well. Ex: J.K Rowling - Harry Potter. And look at her books! Fantastic! Another reason, is your setting which is war so obviously a male would be more suitable. I'm not being sexist of course! So just do your research. Observe other authors. How they write. Good luck!
