I am VERY interested in becoming a marine biologist (probably because I grew up in a desert, deprived of the ocean) but I'm not exactly sure what the job requires. So here are my questions:
1. Would I ever kill an animal? I mean, purposely kill an animal just to study it? If that is something they do, would I be able to get out of doing that?
2. Do all marine biologists go and study out in the ocean? I don't want to be stuck in a lab the whole time and never get to go diving or anything. I do understand that it's not all diving and out in the ocean but I want to make sure that it will be included.
3. Is there a place that is the best for marine biology? I'm interested in moving to France to do my studies and pursue a career there. Are there good colleges for Marine Biology there?
4. How hard is it to get into the field? I don't want to go to school for so long and then not be able to get a job. How competitive is this field?
5. What is basically an overview of the job, like, what all I would be doing?
6. How are the hours? Is marine biology a good job to have and still have a family or does it take up a lot of your time?
7. What is the salary like?
Thanks for all your answers.
