matching a subwoofer and amp?

okay so i have this kicker solo baric l5 15" subwoofer with 1500 max watts and 750 rms.
could i buy an amp with 1000 rms? or would i have to match the rms of the sub (750) with the rms of the amp (750) ???? any help is appreciated
 
Nahr dude, you should be fine with that sub-woofer with that amplifier.

Kicker sub-woofers are one of the very few that can handle a lot more power than originally specified.
Just make sure to have the gain set to a slightly higher voltage than that of the head unit pre-out voltage, just to eliminate the possibility of a clipped signal when cranking it at full....
