Took a 8k mile 98 Dodge Viper to a mechanic for pinhole in a hose. A week later they called to say it also needed head gaskets...$2500.00. Picked up car drove it half a mile and it overheated and pegged red. Took it back, they put 3 gallons of coolant into car and I drove it home. It sat in my garage for 2 weeks, I decided to drive it. Started it, and it immediately over heated again. Put MORE coolnt inton it, drove it to mechanic, after about 5-6 miles lost all oil pressure and temp guage pegged red. I checked oil level and stick was completely covered, all the way to the top with milky white. All the way to the top means entire crankcase was full. Towed it from there back to the same guy. He dropped the pan, called and said it was perfect and he was gonna change the oil and I could pick it up. In the mean time, he wrecked the car (30k worth of damage) so its now at the body shop. Body man tells me car doesnt start well, runs rough and Check engine light is on. What is your opinion, is this engine likely junk? it was driven about 20 miles with a TON of coolant in the oil.

ya sounds like time for a complete rebuild of the engine. would recommend finding a different repair shop also. and it doesn't sound like he did the head gasket or he did something wrong. so i would also recommend taking copies of all the reciepts for work done to a lawyer and see what they say
