...of some "security unit".? 2007 XL7. Key gets stuck in the ignition when you put it in, have to push the release button in the bottom of the steering column. Can not move the shifter and the car does not turn on. I was told that it "might" be a "security unit" that thinks the car has been tampered with or something. It was randomly misfiring in cylinders 1-6 before we took it in for service and now it won't even start so we can get that resolved. Any information is appreciated.

yes if the security system is malfunctioning it can cause the car not to start, most of the time the security light on the dash will be lit, or be flashing, i have a vats security system in my car, my system malfunctioned and i couldnt start my car or anything, i just bypassed it instead of having a mechanic do it, it cost me 4 bucks for the parts to bypass it, so basically yes a security system can make your car not start, hope this helps.
