I remembered in the 5th grade I read this book (that looked like a scrapbook) about a couple's journey to preparing to marriage. I remembered a part of the book that the girl cooked rice and she was so proud, but when someone tasted it (can't remember if it was her father or future mother-in-law) and said it was too salty and then she cried. The book was based in the early 1900s Mexico and seemed pretty real. Any ideas? Thanks
