Michael Finley is attempting an NBA comeback according to recent reports. The 39-year-old small forward has played for the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics. Finley hasn’t played since the 2009-10 season, however he thinks he can help a team with his outside shooting and his veteran leadership.
Personally, I don’t think it’s a good idea. He looked done the last time he was in the league … and now he’s even older. It’s time for Finley to retire for good.
If a veteran team wants to put him on the bench, they should just hire Finley as an assistant coach. Putting a gun to my head, teams that would consider Finley include the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers.
But more realistically, if Finley wants to play basketball again, he should sign with a team in the D-League.
