Mitsubishi Eclipse ECU Help?

I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse that has a faulty ECU. I was able to find a replacement one with the same part number which I believe would work. My question is if I need to get the same immobolizer from the car that the new ECU is coming from. I was also told that it may be possible to have the dealer reprogram the key to work. I am at a loss, because I keep hearing different things from different people. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
