More to the Q I asked yesterday about correcting a dog for growling?

WHY would you do this? If a dog is uncomfortable and growls to tell you this, why would you correct it? What purpose does that serve? Are you concerned at all that you may silence the dog and cause it to bite "without warning" in the future?
