...drink bottled...? ...water, which is more
expensive than gasoline. Does toting bottled water give you a sense of sophistication?

Making bottles to meet our demand for bottled water, required the equivalent of more than 17 Million barrels of oil last year.

In blind tastes, most consumers couldn't tell the difference between tap and bottled water. Is it really more safe? Why are we spending so much for it?

And yet we complain about gasoline, unlike gasoline we have a choice to drink water for free, TAP!

ha, I agree, I never saw the point in buying bottled water, I do have a water purifier on my tap and there is a lot of chemical additives in tap water but I bought my purifier for about the same price as a case of bottled water, and it'll last a hell of a lot longer

Excellent point + questions but this is the Alcohol section.

The thing about tap water, is it carries different tastes depending on the area you're living in. I've been to some areas or cities where the tap water tastes nothing like it does around here. The tap water here is pretty down right gross. We bought a Brita filter which was great but I'm not a big fan of reusable bottles to begin with. We drink the Brita at home but on the go we take bottled water for convenience because once you're done you can just toss it and move on. I actually don't drink straight up water unless I'm exercising anyways. And even when I'm exercising I prefer a drink like G2.

Your point is very intriguing though. It's a valid opinion.

It looks like you are not asking a question, rather trying to make a point about your views.

The reason you cannot compare the price per gallon of water vs. a price of a gallon of gas is simple. You don't fill your car up with 12 gallons of bottled water twice a week!

Now, most people don't buy bottled water because of the taste, they buy it for convenience. The cost of bottled water comes from the packaging, advertising, shipping, etc.

I use a filter at home and refill my water bottles because it is cheaper, and I like the water that my filter produces. I can definitely notice the difference between straight tap and filtered.

You need to worry about yourself, and make the decisions for yourself. Don't come onto an answer forum to spout your nonsense. Besides, I would seriously contest your "fact" that 17 million barrels of oil each year goes straight into bottle production. Just because some website says that doesn't mean it's true.

My water system is about to become undrinkable thanks to some drilling. I don't think I'll take any chances with filtered tap any longer.
