"I just downloaded some videos from my Sony video camera, and they're in AVCHD.mts format. I would like to convert them into a form that I can use on iMovie (so I guess that would be the more common file types, like .avi or .mov). Are there any free applications that I can use to convert my files? I use a Mac. (For some reason, handbrake doesn't work for me)"
AVCHD.MTS files from Canon, Sony, Panasonic etc brand camcorder are warmly welcomed for its awesome video quality, but MTS files can not be widely accepted by various multimedia device, this really make us crazy.
Handbrake and iSquint are commonly freeware to help convert some video formats, but very limited and no longer in development, not easy to use.
However, the powerful Mac avchd.mts to avi converter 4.0.2 is released now, especially for Mac user who like to batch convert AVCHD, mts, m2ts, ts, trp files to AVI , XVID, DIVX, HD AVI etc on Mac os x with best output quality and fast speed.
