OBDII Code: P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire, P0171 System Too Lean - Bank 1, P0174 System Too Lean - Bank 2

What could cause these concurrent problems?

These are off the Autozone print offs for a Volkswagen, I'm trying to figure out what is causing these problems and if the code description is correct for my vehicle. I don't want to go and spend $1000 dollars are parts that have nothing to do with the problem.

(F*** autozone) Take the car to aamco, they will diagnose it for free and they will tell you exactly what is wrong.......GOOD LUCK.

obiously u have a malfunction with cyl 4, could be something simple such as a bad spark plug, could also be a coil gone bad, and it could also be a cloged injector,... ur gonna have to do some testing to figure it out, both ur lean codes are more than likely caused by ur failed cylinder, so fix the misfire first.

the p0304 is for the cylinder misfiring, change all the plugs and make sure the coil for cylinder 4 is ok, if not try putting it in a different cylinder. disconnect the battery and touch both ends of the cables together for 10 secs. it will relearn the computer. drive the car and see if the light comes on again. if it does see what code. if its the misfire for where you put the coil from cylinder 4 than change the coil. the other codes don't worry about for now. they came up cause of the misfire. if they come back with no other code not even the misfire. than they mean that the cat is no good and has to be replaced. one step at a time.
