My 8 week old puppy is starting to growl when being picked up!?

My new puppy is starting to growl when being picked up. I know puppies can have a playfull growl but this actually quite an aggresive growl followed with an angry bite! I have yelled at him and still he has done this on several occassions. Would love to know how to make him stop before he gets any older. He is a German Shepherd Pup.
