My abs brakes don't work on my 97 dodge ram,?

I just had an accident with my 1997 Dodge ram pickup. I slid on the icy road and hit another vehicle, but I noticed that I have ABS brakes on my vehicle, but they failed to work. Is there a sensor that needs to be replaced, a computer chip or something that I can do myself to repair these brakes before I take this vehicle back out on the road? I don't have a lot of money for repairs so this has to be a home repair if possible.
