...normal and what can I do to help? My daughter is 4 mos old and my dr said I should start introducing her to baby oatmeal once a day. I started with 1 tbsp cereal to 4 tbsp breast milk. I am using Gerber Organic baby oatmeal. She has had smelly gas since and will wake up for a feeding screaming (I think because she is gassy and uncomfortable). I also checked for a fever just to be sure and she had none. Any advice?? Should I stop giving her the oatmeal or is this just an adjustment period that will pass. I plan on calling my dr tomorrow but I thought I would ask some veteran moms for advice. Thanks for the help!

I had the same problem with my 4 month old. We stopped feeding her oatmeal and just stuck to rice cereal mixed with formula in her bottle and shes fine now.

oatmeal can make you gassy, it's chock full of fiber. if you insist on giving her solids, either thin it out more or give her some fruits or veggies. if she is bf, there isn't really any benefit starting her on solids so soon, esp. if she didn't seem interested.
