My BF complains constantly and it brings me down?

He goes through depressions and I feel it coming on again. I want to be here for him but all the constant complaining brings me down. Should I ask him to limit the venting to save my sanity, or is that mean? Any other ideas?

in all seriousness, i have suffered through depression myself for about a year. i vented to one person. i didn't vent my whole life or constant complain. just every once in a while this person would ask about me and how my life was and what i can do to help. point you should listen to your BF if hes depressed but a man needs to bare his pain alone sometimes. in my case i was too proud to tell someone everything i feel, but then again i don't whine bitch or complain .

In the long term you will only suffer. Give him an alternative either he gets help (medication) or you get a new boyfriend.
