My cat doesn't like being picked up?

My cat is 1 year old, and he's so gentle. He has never scratched me, and loves attention and being stroked. But when I try to pick him up, he still doesn't scratch or anything, but he REALLY struggles to get down. I'm pretty sure i'm holding him properly (can someone tell me how to just to make sure?) but he just hates being picked up. Why could this be? at first i thought maybe he was afraid we might drop him from that height, then i saw him on next doors shed which kinda proved me wrong

well if he doesn't like to be picked up don't do it. cats have strange personalities and almost everyone is different

just kinda like holding a baby but maybe not upside down, and some cats just hate being picked up, same way people hate being man-handled

its nothing to worry about, he just doesn't like being picked up. not much you can do.

let him get used to u picking him up by just keep doing that

get a dog , the cat will jump into your arms then there will be know need to pick the cat up
