My dial up internet connection is constantly being disconnecting, does anybody know

what the problem is? i have just recently updated the computer to windows xp sp2, and updated itunes to 8.0, now my dial up connection is constantly being disconnected, and i don't know how to keep it connected, usually after 10 minutes or so, even if i am browsing the internet, or downloading something it always disconnects, any help would be greatly appreciated.
