dark earlier. What to do? As we get further into the fall season and darkness falls much earlier, my dog (a boston terrier) wants to go to sleep sooner than usual. He is 6 1/2 years old and has never done this before. However, now that darkness falls at around 7pm, I will find him on my bed (looking at me pitifully) thinking it is bedtime. What can I do? I feel terrible because I tell him that it is not bedtime, but obviously he doesn't quite understand. Someone please help! I'm sure it isn't healthy for him to totally shut down at 7pm every night.

Animals are ruled mostly by the rising and setting of the sun. It is normal that he/she wants to go to sleep earlier when the sun goes down earlier.
He's fine

Give him a reason not to go to bed. Take him for walks, play his favorite games, or hide treats around the house for him to "hunt." If you act like you are having fun he won't want to miss out.
