I walk my kids to school and pick them up 5 days a week. I've always taken the dog with us. We are not allowed to take dogs onto school grounds so we have to tie him up. I can see him from where I put my son in Pre-school.

The school holidays just finished a week two weeks ago. Since the holidays have finished he has been whining when I leave him. Then today he went psycho! he started Jumping and chewing at his lead and I had to run back as fast as I could to stop him from hurting himself. I even left my baby up at the school and my friend who saw me take off and saw Benji brought my bub down to me.

We've been doing this for years, Why the sudden change?

Also what can I do to help him? I pride my self on how much I walk my dog, he gets a 40min walk at 6 am then the walks to school and Then all the family go for a walk after dinner. I really want to keep these extra walks up and we are getting another dog soon and I don't want Benji to freak the new pup out.
Well I love my GSD. You're a bit of a negative nancy arn't you.

Sounds like you need to go back to basics. Start from scratch and teach him to stay. Ties him up, tell him to stay walk back ten feet. if he doesn't move reward him and keep doing that until you can be out of his sight without him being silly. If he does be naughty, return immediately and try again. Goodluck and dont worry sometimes things like that happen

He's being tied up near the school or at your home? He should not be tied up near the school where any child or passerby could be harmed by your tied up dog. If you can't take him onto the school's property, which you shouldn't, then leave him at home. The sudden change could have been something as simple as a kid hit him with something and you didn't see.
