My dog is having siezures, vet thinks it's a tumor, not epilepsy. Any ideas?

how old is your dog? epilepsy generally occurs in young dogs. once they are over the age of 7, seizures are generally due to a brain tumor.

can be anything causing siezures - you really wouldn't know the cause until more test are conducted. Wish you luck with you dog tho, for now there really isn't anything you can do but to keep a close eye on your dog so when he has a siezure, calm him down, and prevent him from biting his own tongue besides it's better not to speculate too much - it'll only get you stressed out and dogs can also feel it.

Some sort of infection in the brain, spine or nerves. Bacteria and viruses usually, but there are parasites that can get into the brain too.

Injury. Even old injuries can sometimes cause problems.

Poison- not only things like rat bait, but human medicines, cleansers, fertalizers, etc.

Organ failure. Diabetes, Thyroid problems, and other organ malfunctions can cause problems that lead to seizures.

There are other "syndromes" that cause seizures besides epilepsy. I don't know them off the top of my head, and they're rare, but they do exist.

I'm so sorry for your troubles.
I would be terrified and heartbroken.
Best wishes to you and your doggie.
Good luck.
