she had fleas and scratched herself raw, but we got rid of the fleas and she has now red skin from itching so we've put cream on her to help her skin heal, but anyway shes in heat,
shes been whining for 2 days now, we have a male dog but hes not interested because we've had him snipped (after them having puppy's)

but i cant get her to stop whining does anyone know anything i can do ?
btw shes a bedlington terrior, never been spayed and is 6 years old.

She is crying,

because she wants to get freaky with another dog.

Either deal with it, or get her clipped.

Well obviously the long-term answer is to get her spayed!! Short-term, I'm afraid you'll just have to put up with it. Until she's out of season. This normally only happens, if it happens at all (I had one who did this - re spayed her and found her a good pet home as she was upsetting my whole pack!!) when the b itch is right on for breeding - say around days 10 - 14. Hopefully once she's over the top, she'll quit.

Despite him being neutered, keep your male well away from her - she may be wound up (calling) because he's around!!

Is she whining from the skin irritation or from being in heat? Spay her and get a good flea shampoo with oatmeal or some other skin soothing ingredient.

The urge to merge is so strong, she can't help herself, the whining will continue until one of 2 things happens. Either she gets bred, or when she comes out of heat in a few weeks. There's nothing you can do to stop the whining, unless you want her bred and have more puppies. (NOT a good idea, there are already too many unwanted pups who end up badly)
The best way to stop it in the future is to get her spayed, call and make an appointment now, there are low cost spay and neuter clinics available if your funds are limited. Contact your local humane society or animal control shelter and they can direct you to the low cost clinic.

ps. add a teaspoon of cider vinegar to her daily water, it isn't a complete flea cure, but it does help and does not hurt the dog in any way. Also after giving her a flea bath, rub some Avon Skin-so-Soft all over into her skin, the smell helps repel fleas, it soothes itchy skin, and makes her smell nice. You can get total flea protection from the vets at a cost of about $15 a month per dog, well worth the expense, for the dog's comfort, and yours too.

Call the vet and have her spayed in 4 weeks and keep her kenneled till she is out of heat. WHY was she not spayed about 5 yrs ago?
