My elderly father's about to get evicted - who should I talk to and what can I do?

Just moved back to the same city and am trying to understand what's going on.

He missed '5 or 6' mortgage payments. He's living off his pension only, and every other bill he's got has been unpaid for ages. (I found unopened bills from three years ago.) I also think he's got the beginnings of dementia. Doesn't take care of himself or eat unless I make him.

He's got two weeks before he's evicted. I'm unemployed at the moment so can't help with money.

What can I do? Talk to a social worker or lawyer first?

Will get a credit report as soon as I can - but he's left the country for a few days to try to deal with ANOTHER legal matter in another country ( I couldn't stop him!) - so I can't get his permission until he comes back. I think this is the only way to understand exactly what is going on though... he's only giving me partial information, gets too upset.

Am in Canada.

I'm in my early thirties and have only rented until now - I've got no idea where to start.
