My friend is super close minded when it comes to religion...Why?

Okay so one of my friends is really really close minded when it comes to religion. She's a christian and she gets SUPER offended if anyone makes the tiniest joke about a prayer or anything. Someone made a comment about how they said "Dear God, You didn't have any part in the making of this food. Amen." at dinner the previous night and she god so mad she didnt say anything the rest of the lunch period. My other friend and I are both agnostic and she said that we were "so gay" and "retarded" for that. She says that she cant understand how you can' believe in anything and that its dumb not to believe in anything. But she gets pissed if anyone insults Christianity! Even though I am agnostic I don't judge anyone else for their beliefs I just hate people who are close minded and try to convert you to their religion and call your beliefs "wrong" I just don't think that's right. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. and I am actually really interested in religion and all different aspects and beliefs, just because I find it intersting. But anyways, why do you think my friend so hypocritical?

DONT tell me to believe that "jesus christ is my savior" because (and I know by saying this there is a 99.999999999% chance I will be reported) I personally believe that jesus is a bunch of crap. And by the way, my dads is a christian so Im not just saying that bc my parents taught me to not believe in god.
I wasnt the one who said the prayer, my CHRISTIAN friend said it. And i have NEVER made fun of her religion
 
It sounds like she is closing her mind to analytical thought when it comes to religion.

I don't remember a commandment that says "Thou shalt not THINK!"
 
It is just the tendency of the person. Most religious people are close minded, I think, because they are truly afraid to accept that their religion is not true. I am happy with my beliefs, that being agnostic. There is not nearly enough information to say that you know how the universe was created and what happens when you die. I believe that no one on the Earth is right. All assumptions are theories yet to be proven.
 
maybe u can tell her that u wont change ur religion she wont change hers too so maybe u should take a break n stop discussing these stuff if she minds when u make fun of Christianity then just stop it ! even if u think shes overreacting
 
some people can't take any sort of challenge to their faith, so to deal with it, rather than think for themselves, they sit in a corner, plugging their ears, and say "la la la la la la i can't hear you la la la la" they do this because in reality their faith isn't strong enough to survive challenges. the people who are capable of standing up to challenges to their faith, and have intelligent discussions with people who are of different belief systems, and preferably walk away having learned something, taught something, and kept their values and beliefs strong, those are the rare people who are worth your time, even if they do believe something different than what you do, hell especially if they believe something than you do, you'll learn more that way

Everyone is indeed entitled to their opinion, but it was pretty rude for someone to make fun of her religion by telling her about their mockery of a mealtime prayer. Why would anyone do that, if not to upset her and laugh at her for her beliefs? Of course she was offended, because she takes her faith seriously. If you really are friends, then you should be as tolerant of her as you would like her to be of you, instead of trying to get her to believe what you believe. You certainly would not enjoy having her try to convert you.
 
Well this is clearly a big dilemma and there is obviously only one answer: you guys have to settle this. By having a pillow fight.
 
Some people just have very strong beliefs and opinions, and aren't interested in hearing contradictory views/beliefs, etc.
 
Seeing as humans can't register more than 20% of their physical surroundings, any person who claims to know the "will of God" is completely full of shit as humans don't have the intellectual capacity to even perceive "god". Ergo a person not adhering to a specific theory of god is closer to understanding than those theists who claim to know the will of god.
