...filter.? I put the thermostat at 80 it says its only 63. what could be wrong and how to fix it.
It has done this before but when I turned the thermostat off and back on and it worked not this time I even reset the thermostat I took it off and made sure all the wires were tight. It is a gas furnace and a digital thermostat the furnace is really old it's a sears We just moved here and they supposably fixed the furnace before we moved in.

Heidie, It can be any number of problems. Turn the thermostat all the way up to 90 and make sure the switches are set to heat and automatic. If this doesn't work it could be a loose wire, bad thermostat, bad control valve, etc. Any more information or clues from you would be helpful.

OK, here's what to do: set the thermostat fan switch to on. fan running? control voltage yes. Fan not running: fan relay failure or cabinet panel switch open..... close furnace cabinet panel correctly.

Inside the thermostat use some kind of jumper wire between red and white; purge fan start or burners fire? yes, thermostat bad. Purge fan no start or burners no: sequencer/ limit switch failure.

If above troubleshooting completely inconclusive: turn off all power to unit and let pilot run for at least 5 minutes to allow for soft lockout clear... start unit as usual. If unit does not respond, call a qualified tech.
