Okay, I just recently got gerbils from my science teacher, I had thought originally that they were both boys, as well as my teacher. Yeah. No. My mother had noticed my gray gerbil looked rather fat. I thought it was just she was fluffy. Today, NOT KNOWING my gerbil had given birth, I picked her up to scratch her behind the ear, but I had seen bedding moving. Rather stunned, I moved the bedding and came to see one tiny, pink baby. I immediately put her down and ran to my mother to tell her. It's Friday, my mom said I need to give back the male. I'm afraid he might do something to the baby and I only have one aquarium. I want to get him away from the baby to make the mother less stressed. I have to wait until monday to give him back, so I'm unsure of what to do. So far of what I've seen, there was only 2, but one died, The female still looks a little big, but she might not still be pregnant. But, don't worry about the mother being alone in the future, even if the baby survives, she'll have a FEMALE friend. I am very sure the female friend will be okay, as she is a baby too. But she's old enough to walk around, eat regular food, etc. (My teacher's remaining ones had two litters) But, otherwise, I just need some suggestions on where to put the male gerbil.
