beams and fog lights work...? What the hell happened? I haven't had ANY time to look get it fixed or checked out but maybe you guys can help me out or is it something I can fix myself!?
If BOTH your headlights went out at the same time, it is a bad relay. The box fuse box that you will find under the hood in the engine bay should have a diagram to which you need to replace. Keep in mind your fog lights, and high beams are under different relays, thus the reason why they still work, but your low beams are dead.
Now if just one light went out, and then shortly later the other did, then it isn't the relay, but the bulbs themselves. It is extremely rare that both would go out at the same time, however.
Don't go to a deal for the relay. They will screw you on price. Go to your local car parts store, and they will get one in your hand for $10 to $15.
The headlight on cars can come one of two ways. Single phase like a standard desk lamp. or two phase like like a halogen lamp. in that car you have a two phase light witch means there are two light in one bulb.
because you use your standard headlights more than your high beams that part will blow out first. all you have to do is replace the bulb.
if both left and right headlights stop working at the same time you may have an electrical problem. but still replace the bulbs first, its cheaper.
be sure to change both bulbs at the same time. its not really really necessary but bulbs get dimmer over time.
i own a subaru legacy as well but it ain't no GT. maybe you managed to go faster than the speed of "light" lol
