wanted to lean.? I spoke to this intructor in dubai who is an Indian (actually two instructor and the one train us works under other instructor) that i want to learn boxing but as they were not hacing class for boxing but they did have class for kick boxing and karate (as it said in advert). So i had to choose kick boxing, atleast boxing was involved in that martial art. Anyways, my intructor told me that he will train me in karate class with other guys. First he asked me to wear karate outfit with a white belt which i doubt i would i wear as i am there for kick boxing where guys wear shorts. Second, its been 2 weeks and he hasn't tought me anything about boxing. He is training me and other starters with 2 yellow belt holders. His lessons are quite difficult to follow as we being freshies can't pick all those kicks which are meant for yellow belt holders. I asked my instructor to teach me some hand movement as he knew that i was there just for a month, he said that it comes in three months. I am just wondering why in the hell he wants me to learn karate if i want to learn kick boxing. Kick boxing workout and other things must be different from karate, don't u think. I think that don'y have a certificate of kick boxing. I have been there for 2 weeks and learned nothing. Advice me please. should i leave that place or what?

It's not working out , just find a real boxing or kickboxing club.

Well I can tell you having traveled in that part of the world and Europe as well that some refer to karate as kick-boxing so that might be part of the reason for the misunderstanding right there. It also sounds like they have their own schedule of things and how students will progress and when things are taught which is not all that unusual but it obviously does not co-inside with your schedule.

Since you have already paid for your month you might as well make the best of it and learn what you can about what is being taught or forget it entirely and just spend your time doing something else instead of going to class. Doing otherwise will probably just frustrate you more as you probably can't change anything about any of this.

My general take is that training in something is better than training in nothing, but at the same time, if you're not getting what you want, you're well within your rights to leave. Karate was my first martial art and it's been a great foundation for me, but I can certainly understand that if you want boxing and you're not getting anything close to that, why you'd want to skip out. I think if I went to a place to get specific training and wasn't receiving it, I'd probably leave, especially if I wasn't going to be there long anyway.

If they are not teaching you what you paid for, ask for your money back.

The advert said "kickboxing AND karate"...
"AND" means that you will probably be learning both in this class.

If you are in Dubai, shorts might very well be against the law.

Did you ever talk to your instructor about why you are learning karate it?

karate is useless find a new gym and train kickboxing
get your money back btw
