I run an optus wireless, which shows a good signal, and a belkin wireless network, which is at full strength, but just a few days ago, we went from 1500kps down to about 24.

Now you have plenty of time to go make a coffee between pages.
There seems to be a pulse that takes the system up to almost 100% on the widget internet gauge, which stalls the system about every 20 seconds for a moment and then disappears.

I've tried rebooting everything.

I even downloaded a trial version of a program that anyalizes internet speed and cleans up any faults. It said I have 151 problems, and that if I purchased the program, it would clean them up.

I spend most of my time here, could I have messed up my system that much, or is it hype to sell their program?
I run vista ultimate and protect it with trend pc cillin. Can anyone suggest a way to clean this up?

Well, a few steps to take would be to directly hardwire your computer into your internet source... If the speed increases try getting a new wire and one by one replacing each internet wire separately to check for faults in the wires... IF none of this helps then I would call your Internet provider and make sure everything is good on their side, this happened to me once, and it turned out to be their mistake... We had lost our IP in their servers and had connected to some awkward one with no speed at all... It is most likely the Internet suppliers mistake!

The most effective method for speeding up a comp where possible is just format the hard disk. . Run disk cleanup. Check to see what you have in your temp. clear up of your hard disk. scan your computer for viruses and spyware using suitable programsIf you still experience the same problem, delete the computer after backing it up, if problem is with programs running slowly- I advise you to download this software, which can extremely help- CCleaner then check speed here scanmyspeed.com
