My internet shows that I am connected, but I can't open the internet or instant

messenger..? I have a Dell PC that works great with a Linksys adapter to get my internet on.. I have recently developed a problem where my internet will connect and IE, Firefox, and everything that reacquires internet will work but then after a few minutes nothing will and it still shows that I have an active internet connection, but I cannot get Internet... I just bought a new router and adapter thinking that maybe that was the problem, but even with the new router and adapter the problem consists... I am currently on my laptop right next to my desktop and the internet is working fine, and the 2 other desktops in the house work great also... I really could use some help!!!
