my mazda protege chokes out after i put in a cold air intake?

i have a 2000 1.6L mazda protege and i tried adding a cold air intake from spectre (got as a gift) and i hooked everything up i even sealed the joints so no air leaks can possibly happen. and once i turn my car on it starts normally but the rpms drop to under 400 and then it roughly chokes out..im lost i tried everything from moving the maf to different spots to making the cold air intake to a short ram and i have no idea what could cause this
 
Make sure everything is plugged in, you may have knocked a wire loose during the install. All else fails put the stock system back on and see if it goes away. Most CIA`s do very little for performance anyway.
 
They maf should be in the same spot as the factory placement I think.?.

Maybe the maf got dirty or messed up during installation. U could try cleaning or replacing it.
