My neighbor wants to go on vacation with us?

My neighbor wants to go on vacation with me and my boyfriend. The three of us are really good friends and he and I do have a crush on each other. Nothing has happened between us except for a lot of touching,( holding hands, bumping in to each other and hugging). What I don't understand is that he has a girlfriend that travels around the country all the time. She always asks him to go with her, but he never does. I found out from my boyfriend that the next time we go out of town,(which will be soon), my neighbor wants to go with us. Why does he want to go with us and not her? Am I missing something?
