It's been doing this for a really long time. It plays PS2 games, CDs, and DVDs just fine, but any time I put in a PS1 disk it goes to the screen that says "Please insert a PlayStation or PlayStation 2 disc." There's certainly nothing wrong with the disks, as they're brand new. The game in question here is Final Fantasy IX, but it won't play any other PS1 games I have either. The games will work eventually, but I have to sit there for a good half-hour or so pushing the stupid eject button. Today it's not working at all. It's really irritating. I just got to disk 3 of FFIX this morning and I can't go any further because my PS2 is being a douchebag. I took my PS2 apart and noticed that whenever it starts reading the disk, it kind of just stops reading it. Like, it'll start to spin and then it's like, "Yeah, I just don't really feel like playing this game for you," and it stops. But when I put in a PS2 disk or like a CD, it'll spin and read the disc just fine. Sometimes it'll read it and recognize it as a PS1 disk, and then I go to the disk icon and press X and nothing happens. The PlayStation screen doesn't come up or anything. The screen just kinda goes black and chills like that. Help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Also, if anyone says "Send it to Sony and have them fix it," I'm going to strangle them. I'm not looking to spend fifty dollars to have them tell me nothing's wrong when I could just fix it myself. I just need to know how is all.
