My puppy peed in the crate!?

My puppy peed in the crate last night! He NEVER does that. I bought him a new crate about a month ago. He has peed in it twice(that I know of) What he does, is after he goes, he rolls his bed up, and then lays on the plastic, so that he doesn't have to lay in the pee.

The crate is a little to big, but I have a dividor to go in it, should I use that? Should I take the bed out of there, so that he doesn't have something that absorbs the pee?

Thanks!
After I think about it. I don't think I took him out last night before I put him in!! Whoops, it seems to of slipped my mind! I also recall that he drank loads of water before I put him in there.

Ok, so he has an excuse for last night, I will see to it that it doesn't happen again!

Feel free to answer though!

Congrats on your new puppy!
We had a puppy and she peed in her crate too.. heehee..
That's just what they do until they are trained not to.
First, do not use that divider. You want as much space for your furry friend as possible.
Also, take him or her out often and make sure they are getting plenty of play time and exercise.
Whatever you do, do not use the puppy pee pads. They do not work and only encourage your dog to pee where they are. so if u used one by the stove and ur dog peed on the pad, eventually if u removed the pee pad, your pup will still pee there b/c they were used to going potty there...
You just have to watch your puppy.. they say a dog never pees where it sleeps. so NOT true. if you have to go, you have to go... just clean the mess and bathe your puppy after.
watch your puppy for signs, (whimpering, biting of cage, etc..) when u see that, take him out and say "do u have to go potty" then let him outside.. eventually they'll know what that means and actually go potty when he hears that command...
works for our puppy and we have had her since she was 3 weeks old!
My hubby spoiled her and now she sleeps in the bed with us!

Good luck!! =)

my dog peed in his crate till he was six months old but he is a medium sized dog with an extra large crate. use the divider till he gets a little bigger, if he has to go to the bathroom and his crate is the right size he won't want to pee in it because its like relieving in his den. as for the bed its really up to you, i personally wouldn't because he pees in it then it smells like ammonia and you have to buy a new one, plus the smell of ammonia can hurt his lungs.
