My samsung code phone says, 'phone off,' and won't allow me to turn the phone...

...back on.? My phone beeped for no reason and said something about the number being changed...I had not touched the phone or anything! The next thing I know, the phone says, 'phone off' on the screen, so I can't make or receive any calls or texts. When I'm given the option to turn the phone back, 'on,' nothing happens. I have Metro PCS, so I don't have customer service or tech support, and even if I did, I can't make any phone calls. Any helpful suggestions?
