My Sea Snail Is Eating One Of My Fish!?!?!?!?

i walked out to my fish tank this morning to feed all my fish to discover one of my fish DEAD BEING EATEN BY A SEA SNAIL! WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? could the snail have killed it and started eating it because it so hungry or something? but how in gods name does a snail kill a fish? and since when do snails eat fish anyway? i thought they ate the algae not the fish.
so yeah does anyone have any idea's on what happened? because im confused.
