My sister health declinded and had to go to an assistant living facility, she had a dog and could not take her with her. She asked me to take care of her. Well I think my sister may have left me with a pregnant dog. I am not really sure. First I noticed a behavior change in "lady", she is usually a very friendly dog and now she seems aggitated. I thought it was maybe because my sister wasnt around anymore. Than I noticed her belly getting larger which got me thinking. I checked her belly and sure enough it is hard and you can see it comeing out beyond her ribs. I checked her nipples to see if they were enlarged but what I found was milk (I think it is milk, its white) comeing out of her nipples. I have never seen or been around a pregnant dog because I have always had my dogs spayed or neutered. My real worry is "lady" is somewhere around the age of 12-14, when I called the vet they didnt seem to concerned other than her age. They told me if I wanted I could bring her in for an x-ray to see if there are any puppies and how many. As I am sure everyone knows times are hard and money is tight, the vet wants $180.00 plus any other cost beyond the x-ray. I dont have this money to spend but I dont know what else to do. I dont think my sister ever took her dog to see a vet in her life. Could this be a serious situation, by the reaction of the vet on the phone it was like "whatever you want to do is fine". Could she be pregnant or could this be something else due to her age?
