My SRS light is on 04 Mitsubishi Lancer?

Hey. I just bought an 04 Lancer from a small dealer and the car is "AS-IS." Anyways, I got home and the SRS light came on. It may have been on the entire time, but it was light out when I drove the car, and dark out when I got home. Is there a chance it could be a fluke...or does anyone have some "positive possibilities" and not just NEGATIVE? Thanks so much.
