ecollar help snap him out of whining? i have a 5month old weim.he has been with us since 7wk(i know early).he has attached to me so much that i cant go for a shower without him whining then barking in his crate downstairs.when i go out the front door for the school run he will bark till i return, can even wet the bed.if i go out for an hour he will definitely have wet the bed and not stopped barking.sometimes i take him in the car and he will happily sit in the boot(once for two hrs)i did check him and he was asleep in ball.its really stressing us out and don't know what to do.i tried Kong's,t shirts, rawhide.music and telly.would an e collar help snap him out of whining while i am upstairs so that its not me 'entertaining him' or would that make him scared of things happening to him while he is in his crate?someone please help!
please dont leave insulting 'advise' i certainly understand the need for him to get my love. i am asking for help on how to help him feel calmer when i walk away. i thought that by using a small vibration and no words from me might snap him out of getting into a big panic of me being gone that makes him bark and wet himself.
thank you to those who did give advise.i know it will take time just want to make it easier on him amd my family.

Try a Thunder Shirt. The purpose of an e collar is not for this reason, its for surgical scars or wounds that you dont want the dog to chew/lick on.

A good trainer is your best bet. I chose to use an e collar for a while on a dog i had which had an excessive barking problem after a complaint from my neighbour. Eventually there was no batteries in the collar and he never barked so it must have worked. I'm not sure if i'd use one for sep. anx. because he'll have the discomfort of the collar to contend with as well as missing you. double sadness.

There are several good videos on youtube on dealing with sep. anx. . Can't remember which was best but you can see which one works best for you.

Crate training with a cover over it may be a similar environment to the car boot for him and he'll feel a bit safer.

Good luck and stick with it. xxx

You puppy whines because it is very young and needs LOVE. It cries for mommy. Now you are the mom. Try to be with your puppy as much time as you can these few months. I slept with my puppy when she was young and feeling insure. It will get better when it grows older.
