Supporters of legislation (A 11484, S 5808) to update a New York abortion statute are urging lawmakers to hold final votes before the end of the session, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports. The legislation, first introduced in 2007 by then-Gov. Eliot Spitzer (D), is before committees in both chambers of the Legislature. The legislation would move abortion regulation from the state's criminal code to the public health code, guarantee women's right to control their own reproductive health, and give women the option to use or refuse contraception...
