Name a SCI FI author who added aspects of their life to their work?

Robert Heinlein was in the navy and very conservative. Many of his books reflect his military service and views about owning guns and knowing how to use them.

Anne McCaffrey had a farm in Ireland and owned cats and horses. Her dragons show her love for horses and cats.

Kurt Vonnegut was in the Dresden firebombing. His books have a theme about the problems of war.

You should probably watch the Science Channel. They had a program on Mary Shelly, Arthur C. Clarke and Philip K. Dick.

Don't know if this is what you're asking for. The author who wrote Robopocalypse has a PhD in Robotics. This novel (and other novels) is about...robots. Robopocalypse is about how robots take over the world (different than I, Robot the movie). It has some really awesome possibilities of what robots can do in the future. Anyway, obviously, he took his knowledge about robots to create the robots in his book and build the world and write the storyline.

Not my favorite book, though.
