I took my Spotted Saddle horse for a ride the other day for about 4 hours with a 40 minute break in between where I let him play in the creek and graze in the field. When I got home he was okay. Today I went outside to bring him in for lunch and he had a large bump on his spine about mid way from his withers to his rump. The place was very warm and he was off in his hind legs so I know something was hitting on a nerve. After I got him cared for I checked the saddle pad and it is a contour saddle pad so it kept the shape it had when I took it off him. It looked like it had a small area where it had bunched up and not sat under the saddle right. I have rode him in the same tack for a few months now on miles and miles of trail with no problem. I have never had a problem with this saddle before either. I would like to change the saddle pad and find him something that gives more back support and fits better. Can anyone recommend a good saddle pad that ads extra padding, stays put and contours to give a good, comfortable fit to the horse. I would also like it to be breathable.
