Need help powering a 1000watt dvd player in my car ..?

I bought a 750watt inverter from walmart but the dvd player wouldnt turn on..so I returned it. Do I need to buy a 1000watt or better inverter? Anyone know anything about this?

Additional Details:

Oh... well, its actually a 1000w home theatre system... not just a dvd player. So, what do you suggest I should do to get it running?
